4 DAYS MURCHISON FALLS NP WILDLIFE AND CHIMPANZEE SAFARI
Overview
Explore the beautiful Murchison falls national park, this national park is located north western Uganda. It is the biggest national park in Uganda with the strongest waterfall in the world.
Explore this park ‘activities, attractions in these four days. Also encounter a primate experience in Budongo forest for chimpanzee tracking. The trip will start and end in Kampala the capital of Uganda.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison national park via Ziwa rhino sanctuary
Have an early pick up by a company’s representative from your hotel after breakfast. Have a short introduction and briefing about the 4 days Murchison falls trip. Proceed your journey to the park with a 5 hours’ drive covering a distance of 305 KM.
Have a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino trekking. This sanctuary is located in Nakasongola, and it is the only place in Uganda where you can trek the white rhinoceros’ species. Have lunch at the Kabalega dinners and proceed for the trek in the savannah vegetation.
Begin with a short briefing at the headquarters of the sanctuary by a guide, who will brief you about ones conduct during the tracking of the Rhinos. This activity will take about 1 hour as you experience the white rhinos in their natural habitat. After continue your journey to Murchison, check in at the lodge where dinner and an overnight will be prepared.
Day 2: Game drive and Albert delta
Wake up early for breakfast and prepare for a wildlife venture in Murchison falls national park. On this morning game drive, you will encounter numerous wildlife species such as, the Rothschild giraffes, elephants, warthogs, herds of buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeests, leopards, lions and antelopes etc.
After this exposure, head back for lunch at the lodge and prepare for another drive to the Albert delta. The Albert delta is one spot where the Victoria Nile meets Lake Albert and flows to form the Albert Nile. The connection of the water streams is so visible which is worth a view on this safari.
The Albert delta is also an ideal place for birding watching, and there is a chance to spot special shoe bill stocks, together with other mammal species such as the hippos, warthogs and many more. After retire back to your lodge for a rest and dinner.
Day 3: Boat cruise, hiking to top of the falls
Rise up early for a delicious breakfast at your lodge and prepare for a relaxing cruise on the Nile to the bottom of the falls. Start off your day will a cruise on the Nile, witness the beautiful hippos as they cool in water, the Nile crocodiles, antelopes grazing on the shores of the river and mesmerizing bird species. This cruise has a rewarding view of the thunderous Murchison falls, which is the strongest waterfall in the world.
Arrive at the bottom of the falls the astounding beauty of these falls and the raging sound from the water rapids. After proceed for a hike to the top of the falls where you will encounter monkeys’ species on your ways and a rewarding view of both the Uhuru and Murchison falls. After this adventurous day drive to Budongo forest and to your lodge for a rest and delicious supper.
Day 4: Budongo forest; Chimpanzee tracking
After a warm cup of tea, have a road transfer to Kaniyo Pabidi, a starting point for chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest. The Budongo forest is located in the park covering an area of 500 sq. kilometers. It has the highest concentration of mahogany trees and chimpanzee population which you will visit this day.
Start off the tracking of these notorious primates after a briefing, a group of only 8 individuals will be allowed to track chimpanzees with valid permits. Spend one hour interacting with the chimpanzees and witnessing their interesting livelihoods. This activity takes about three hours, later have lunch and transfer back to Kampala for departure to your nest destination.
