SAFARI OVERVIEW
This is one of the shortest trips in Uganda, but an interesting one where travelers with limited time get an opportunity to enjoy the country’s wilderness. The trip includes a sunrise game drive in Lake Mburo national park, a sunset boat cruise on the region’s largest and a stopover at the equator.
DETAILED TOUR
Day 1: Kampala to Lake Mburo N/park. Boat cruise in the evening.
Leave Kampala or Entebbe airport and drive to Uganda’s smallest savannah park located in Kiruhura, Mbarara and Isingiro districts. It is the region’s only acacia dotted park with numerous mammal and bird resident species.
A transfer to Lake Mburo national park is first interrupted by a short tour at the equator – the world’s longest imaginary line and main latitude that separates the globe into two hemispheres - north and south. Have a cup of coffee here and continue to the park in time for lunch at Rwonyo camp site.
Take lunch as you wait for the boat at 2:00pm. The boat along Lake Mburo is refreshing with amazing sights of birds, mammals and reptile species. The trip lasts for about 2-3 hours until you return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
Day 2: Game drive in the morning and return to Kampala or Entebbe airport for departure.
Wake up in the morning for a fine African breakfast, and depending on where you spent a night, you will need to begin a game drive as early as 6:30am to be able to view elusive species on sunrise. Such animals include the night hunters like hyenas, leopards, lions, night jars, etc. and birds like the owls, and so much more.
On the game drive, you have endless chances of viewing more mammal species like buffaloes, giraffes, eland antelopes, kobs, impalas, and so much.
Return to the lodge for late breakfast and continue on your journey to Kampala or for your outbound flight via Entebbe international airport.
