As a hospitable / warm tour company, we realized the need to relax after your gorilla trek in Bwindi or Mgahinga or after a 7-day hike at Mount Rwenzori; and that’s we created this 3 days’ tour at Lake Bunyonyi to provide a refreshing holiday to shake away the stress and anxiety while engaging in activities such as canoeing, sight-seeing, swimming, boat rides, high ropes adventure and cultural /museum tours.

Detailed tour

Day 1: Kampala - Lake Bunyonyi. Via Igongo cultural center


After breakfast in Kampala or any other departure place, set off to Lake Bunyonyi – a secluded calm lake located in the midst of Kabale highlands. In its west there is the famous Bwindi national park while the south is characterized by Mutanda volcanic highlands as well as Mgahinga gorilla national park.

Along the way, you will pass via the legendary equator in Mpigi district, stop for photos, a cup of coffee and a geographical experiment to confirm this is the point that divides the world into south and northern hemispheres. Another stopover shall be at Igongo cultural hotel located 12km before Mbarara city where you’ll have traditional lunch buffet, hike to the eclipse monument and museum tour.

Proceed along Masaka - Mbarara - Kabale highway until you arrive at your lodge in Lake Bunyonyi in the evening, for relaxation and dinner.

Day 2: Lake Bunyonyi: Rewinding and relaxation holiday


On this day, you will indulge in various activities including canoeing, zip lining, high ropes challenge, bird watching, and community walks.

You will join a site guide after breakfast who will brief about the arrangements of the day; a sunrise canoe ride is the best way to admire the misty islands of Lake Bunyonyi – over 27 of them. These islands are rich with history and you have an opportunity to visit Akampene (punishment island), habuharo, nature’s prime island and so much more. The guide will elaborate to you in details how these islands were formed and what their importance were in ancient days.

Visit the neighboring Batwa communities and “Abaheesi” – craftsmen, and the resident doctor ofAfrican medicine who has turned every plant into medicine healing various diseases.

End the day with an evening boat cruise where you view beautiful landscape including Kigezi terraced hills, lovely birds and talk to the local fishermen.

Return to the resort for evening relaxation and later dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Kampala


This is the last day of your trip where you have options to either go cycling or hike up to the view point where you have an opportunity to see all 29 islands that make up Lake Bunyonyi. Take wonderful pictures and return to the lodge to check out and begin driving back to Kampala.
