Day1: Pick up and Transfer to Mount Rwenzori (Kasese)
As soon as your feet steps on the soils of Entebbe international airport in Uganda, ourprofessional guide will meet and welcome you for your hiking and Gorilla trekking adventure. This hike starts with a briefing and introduction to Ugandan juice, followed by an amazing 6-7 hour drive to Kasese town; in western Uganda; home to the second-highest mountain in Africa; the snowcapped mountain Rwenzori.
You will enjoy lunch en route, yet with breathtaking sceneries all through. You will arrive at your lodge late in the evening for dinner, followed by a peaceful nap.
Day 2: Ascend from Nyakalengijja (1600m) to Nyabitaba camp (2660m)
After a mouth-watering breakfast meal, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing by the park rangers who will give you potters, verify your documents and take you through several formalities before the start of the Hike. From Nyakalengijja to Nyabitaba camp, you will cross the Bakozo settlement, dense bushes, elephant grass, and plantation.
There will be a brief stopover for lunch, followed by the last hike through the central hike to Nyabitaba camp for dinner and overnight. Some of the surprises you should expect include monkeys, Rwenzori Turaco, chameleons, and forest elephants among others.
Day 3: From Nyabita camp (2660m) to John matt camp (3420)-5-6hours
You will start your day with a tasty cup of coffee and then embark on a 5-6 hour hike to John matt camp. Today's adventure is so rewarding with plenty of eye-catching features to look out for, notably the Bujuku and mubuku rivers after about 30-minute hike; montane breathtaking vegetation with a variety of birds; and a stopover at Nyamulejju rock for lunch.
You will have the chance of enjoying the views of mount Speke and Stanley; as well as Margherita glacier at the John matt camp. You are free to have a cold bath will at the camp, followed by dinner and overnight.
Day 4: John matt camp (3420) to Bujuku hut (3930m)
After enjoying an early morning breakfast, your hike to Bujuku hut starts, and lasts for about 4-5 hours through river Bujuku and a forest region; home to lobelias which is the hardest to hike. You will then have a board walk to Bujuku hut that gives you an amazing view of Mount Baker and Stanley.
The walk is defined by several surprises of flora such as flowers, birds and carefully curved rocks. You will have your Lunch meal along the way, whereas dinner and sleep will be at Bujuku camp
Day 5: Bujuku hut (3930m) to Elena camp (4563m)
The mission to the peak continues for about 5-7 hours, though with a break at Elena camp late in the evening. After breakfast, you will navigate through the upper Bigo bog, and the steep slopes of Lake Bujuku. At this point, you will experience a change of temperature, and have clear view of Mount Speke and Baker though at times they are covered by fog. You will finish the day with dinner and overnight at Elena camp
Day6: Summit Hike; Elena camp (4563m) to Kitandara (3979m) 9-11hours
Today your hike starts at approximately 2am with an energy giving cup coffee, and then an exit from Elena Hut, across the Stanley plateau, and Margherita plateau. Morning sunrise will find you resting, before proceeding to the ice marked Margherita peak where the park rangers will teach you how to use the equipments while exploring Margarita peak. The peak gives you a lovely view of Lake Irene and an aerial view of the landscape
Day 7: Kitandara (3979m) to Guy yeoman camp (3505m)
You will start this beautiful morning with breakfast, before descending to Guy Yeoman Camp through the base of Mount Baker which requires carefulness since it is a bit slippery. You will continue to the southern region of the mountain through the rock shelter of Bujangolo, while glancing at the breathtaking plantations. It will take approximately 4-5 hours to arrive at Yeoman Camp, situated at the bank shore of river mubuku for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Guy yeoman camp (3505m) to Nyakalengijja
After a delicious breakfast meal, you will depart Guy yeoman hut for Nyakalengijja start point; a hike that lasts for about 5-6 hours, with flora and fauna to lookout. Upon arrival at Nyakalengijja, the driver guide will meet and pick you up for a drive to your lodge for lunch, or spending the evening with the Bakozo who will take you through thrilling traditional dances to the end of the day when dinner and a peaceful sleep comes last.
Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi via ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park
Today starts with a relaxed breakfast meal, followed by a scenic drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park; home to the endangered mountain Gorillas via the famous ishasha sector where you will track the tree climbing lions for about two hours then Lunch. It is not a guarantee that you will find one or more on the tree branches and so luck comes in play. This drive gives you a good view of the Backdrop of the giant snowcapped mountain Rwenzori, the plantations and magnificent buildings. You will arrive at the lodge in the evening for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Gorilla trekking in PNV / and Batwa exploration
An amazing breakfast meal at the lodge comes first today, followed by a drive to the park headquarters where the park rangers will verify your trekking documents, and brief you on the rules and regulations governing the Jungle and its residents. Gorilla trekking is a lifetime activity that can last for approximately 6hours depending on the direction the creatures have taken and your trekking pace, plus one extra hour for watching the apes play, relax or pose for your photos.
Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for lunch before spending the evening with the Batwa pygmies; visiting the caves and enjoying their traditional performances such as songs, dances and stories. The day is brought to an end with dinner and a nap.
Day 11: Explore Lake Bunyonyi
You will rise from bed early morning for breakfast, followed by a 2-3 hour drive to Lake Bunyonyi; a magical freshwater lake, surrounded by over 27 historical islands and calm ambiance. Delicious Lunch meal will be the first meal upon arrival before spending the entire day participating in any of amazing activities in this paradise; notably swimming, birding, canoeing or horse bike. Thereafter, the captivating sun set will send you to the lodge for dinner overnight
Day 12: Departure
After days of adventure, you will checkout of your lodge for a drive to the airport or your lodge. The drive will have a short break at the equator for Lunch, photography and watching how experts prove the point crossed by the equator line.
