Overview

Exploring three countries on a single trip,here is an exclusive 14-day safari, covering the east and central part of Africa. It seeks to uncover all three residential places of Mountain Gorillas, besides the primates, landscape, culture, hospitality, and wildlife. You will visit Lake Mburo national park, for wildlife and Bwindi impenetrable national park for mountain gorillas in Uganda; Volcanoes national park and Nyungwe national for chimpanzees and canopy walk in Rwanda; and Virunga national park for Mountain Gorillas.

Triple Gorilla trekking opportunity, what are you waiting for? Other attractions include Lake Kivu, Kigali city, and Dian Fossey graveyard among others. The trip kick starts in Uganda and ends in Kigali - Rwanda, with unforgettable memories.

Safari day by day


Day 1: Pickup and Kampala city tour


Upon landing at the airport, our company representative; carrying a placard inscribed on your name will happily welcome for this remarkable 14days adventure, across three borders of Africa's top travel destinations. He will brief and share with you a glass of Juice. Thereafter have a city tour in case of time allows and you are still free.

Places to visit include Kasubi tombs where some of the Buganda kings were buried, Gadhafi mosque; the largest in East Africa built by the late Muammar Gadhafi, national Museum and then proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Drive to Lake Mburo-boat cruise


Early in the morning, you will enjoy a tasty breakfast meal, before checking out of the lodge for a 3-4 hours’ drive to Lake Mburo national park; through a smooth tarmac route made-up of magnificent buildings, busy street, locals carrying on with their trade, and the plantations.

You will arrive at the park in the afternoon and then head for a rewarding 2-3 hour Boat cruise on the lake while taking photos, and watching the residents of the Lake. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park


You will start this day with a delicious breakfast meal, followed by a rewarding 3-4 hours’ game drive through the vast savannah grassland of Lake Mburo national park.  In your quest, chances are that you will spot the buffaloes, elephants, Impalas, Uganda Kobs, long-horned Ankole cattle and warthogs.

After watching the creatures graze, or relax, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then embark on a 5-6 hours’ scenic drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park; home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Proceed to your lodge for dinner and a nap upon arriving at the park late in the evening.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking


After breakfast at about 6:00 am, you will pick up all the recommended items and documents for Gorilla trekking and head to the sectors headquarters for what will be a lifetime adventure; Tracking the mountain gorillas which share about 98% human genes and characteristic. Before being accompanied to the jungle for a search that can last for approximately 1-8hours, plus a maximum of one hour of watching and taking photos of the Apes as they play, relax, or feed, you will have register at the park headquarters, and be briefed by expert park rangers.

You will return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon refreshment, followed by dinner and overnight at the end of the day.

Day 5: Batwa cultural adventure and transfer to Volcanoes national park in northern Rwanda


You will first greet your intestines with a tasty cup of coffee early in the morning, followed by a 3-4 hour thrilling cultural adventure with the Batwa pygmies, former hunters and gatherers in the jungle of Bwindi and Mgahinga. They will take you around the village to their caves, and Manyattas, as well as sing, dance, and amazing stories.

Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for early lunch and then check out of the lodge for a long drive to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda; the land of a thousand hills. The drive is so lovely, with plenty to the lookout for, such as the flourishing landscape and lush landscape. This day ends with dinner and overnight.

Day 6: 2nd Mountain Gorilla trekking and twin lakes tour


You will first enjoy your breakfast meal early in the morning and then head to the park headquarters for a remarkable 1-8 hours’ gorilla trekking adventure in the Jungle of volcanoes, right after registration and pre trekking briefing by the park rangers.  Mountain gorillas are very exciting creatures in the wild, possessing over 95%Human DNA.

It takes tracking through hills, valleys, and bushes to locate them, as well as other primates, reptiles, and birds in this park. Upon finding them, you will be assigned a maximum of one hour to watch and take photos of these Apes as they feed, play or relax, thereafter you will have a lunch break.

After lunch, you will visit the crystal clear waters of Lake Burera and Ruhondo to relax, watch birds or enjoy a canoe ride till the time of returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Dian Fossey hike and explore the Musanze caves


Today will be another rewarding day in volcanoes national park, as you will visit the graveyard of one the greatest conservationist, founder of Karisimbi research center, and the author of a famous book "Gorillas in the Mist", as soon as breakfast is done.

Trekking to where she lays beside her friends may last for about 1-4 hours while enjoying the views of the rolling hills, plantations, and mountains. Dian Fossy is a conservationist who came to Virunga Mountains to research and protects the endangered mountain Gorillas from the hands of poachers who were killing these creatures and leading them to extinction. After listening to the Lectures by the expert guides, you will have a lunch break, and then have a 30minute drive to Musanze caves, one of the most exciting destinations to explore. 1-2 hours will be the time spent here, before returning to the lodge for dinner and peaceful sleep.

Day 8: Transfer to the southern region - Nyungwe national park


You will start your day with a delicious breakfast meal, followed by a scenic drive to Nyungwe national park; home to human cousins; the chimpanzees, co-existing with over 13 unique primate species in the vast Nyungwe forest. Your Lunch will be along the way, whereas dinner and a nap at the lodge in the park.

Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk


The first thing today is energy giving breakfast meal, before hitting the road to the park headquarters for registration, and to be told of the rules and regulations governing the park. Thereafter, the park rangers will guide you through the forest, composed of the amazing sounds of the birds and other primates offered asylum here, to search for the chimpanzees, which you might find relaxing, feeding or playing in their free world. The tracking exercise might last for approximately 1-6 hours and then you can have a lunch break.

After lunch, you will go for an unforgettable walk on a 6-7mtr canopy in the Nyungwe forest. It's one of the kinds in Africa and offers great views of the landscape, forest occupants and many more in the 2-3 hours’ exploration. Dinner and overnight follow.

Day 10: Drive to D.R.C - Virunga national park


On this day, you will depart your lodge after a tasty breakfast meal at the lodge; a journey that is gifted with lots of attractions to encounter and rolling hills to admire. Never the less you will enjoy lunch and registration at the scenic border post as well as the option of visiting any interesting destination along the way, as the driver guide deems.

You should expect to arrive at your Lodge in Virunga national park in the evening for refreshment, followed by dinner and a nap.

Day 11: 3RDMountain Gorilla trekking adventure


Early in the morning, you will sip your tasty tea to the dot and then go to the park headquarters for a pre trekking briefing and document verification, starting at 08:00hours.  Virunga national park ranks among the largest national parks in Africa, and one of habitant to the endangered mountain gorillas. Tracking the Gorillas might demand physical fitness and speed, and can last for approximately 1-8 hours.

After snapping and closely watching the apes, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and the rest of the evening spent chilling while waiting for dinner and a nap.

Day 12: Relaxation at Lake Kivu national park


Early in the morning, you will have a tasty breakfast meal, followed by an exit from the lodge to the must-visit beaches of Lake Kivu; a perfect place for relaxation and acclimatization after an exciting safari adventure. You will reach in time, enjoy, and then chill by the calm waters to the time of dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Full day relaxation


This entire day will be spent relaxing by the calm waters of Lake Kivu; Rwanda's largest freshwater lake and a remarkable relaxation destination.  Activities to engage in are not limited to horse ride, swimming, canoeing, guided nature walk, and birding among others. Breakfast and lunch will be at the beautiful beach, whereas dinner comes late in the day at the lodge before driving to the bed for a nap.

Day 14: Departure


After breakfast, you will depart the lodge for a drive to the airport at Kigali. However, there will be a rewarding city tour around one of the cleanest cities in east Africa. You will visit the genocide memorial site and local craft markets to purchase a few souvenirs for memory.
