The 4 days Murchison Falls and Kibale National Park tour is an exceptional Uganda wildlife
and primate adventure package. It is crafted for you to explore Uganda’s largest safari park;
Murchison Falls National Park in Northwestern side a home to 4 of the big five game and
world’s powerful waterfall ‘Murchison Falls.


This short Uganda safari also combines chimpanzee tracking experiences in Kibale Forest
National Park in western Uganda. This Uganda safari park shelters all 13 primate species in
one habitat and they include an estimate of 1500 chimpanzees. Your trip takes 4 days, 3
nights starting and ending in Kampala/Entebbe.


Detailed itinerary



Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park; rhino tracking en-route

Begin your day with a leisurely cup of tea or coffee at the hotel. After, meet and greet your
tour leader ready to start your Uganda safari to Murchison Falls National Park in the
Northwest. This is the largest of all Uganda parks occupying over 3840sq.kms of land area.
Drive starting from Kampala via Luweero-Gulu highway about 5-6 hours’ drive to Murchison
Falls National Park. Expect an en-route stop visit at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to engage in rhino
tracking. This will be your first wildlife experience on this Uganda tour. Lunch break will be
made in Masindi Town then we access the park via Kichumbanyobo gate in the Southern
side.


Day 2: Game drive in the morning and afternoon boat cruise on Victoria Nile

Have the best of your leisurely cup of tea at the lodge in Murchison Falls then begin your
game drive at 6:30am with an experienced guide. Drive in 4x4 Land Cruiser/Safari Van with
pop-up roof to catch with sun risers via the Northern section of Murchison Falls National
Park.


This may take you 2-3 hours but comes with astonishing sights over the Rothschild giraffes,
leopards, lions, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, water bucks, reedbucks, elephants, buffaloes,
hyenas, birds and a lot more.

You will have lunch break after 2 to 3 hours of excellent wildlife viewing. Relax a little then
go for an afternoon boat cruise along the scenic Victoria Nile leading you to the bottom of
Murchison Falls. This is an interesting watersport that will expose you to Nile crocodiles as
they bask along the river banks, hippos as they swim, water birds and then you enjoy the
scenic view of the falls.


Disembark at Baker’s rock then walk up to the top of falls to witness it squeezing itself into a
narrow gorge of about 8m prior dropping down about 43m. After photography, drive back
to the lodge or return by boat to dine and spend a night in your lodge.


Day 3: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park-visit Bigodi for nature walk

Rise up early in the morning to have a leisurely breakfast. After, check out of the lodge then
drive from Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale Forest National Park your next
destination on this Uganda safari package. This will be 6-7 hours’ drive journey but rewards
you with lots of amazing views especially from breathtaking rift valley and its escarpment.
Lunch break will be at a hotel in Fort Portal city then you connect to Kibale Forest National
Park, about 26kms away.


Your afternoon will include a fun-filled nature walk in Bigodi Wetland just adjacent Kibale
Forest. This wetland shelters over 138 bird species, 8 primate species and they include blue
monkeys, olive baboons, grey cheeked mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red
tailed monkeys. Most of these primates and interesting birds like the Great Blue Turaco can
be spotted on your afternoon guided nature walk. After, drive back to the lodge to have
dinner and overnight stay.


Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and drive back to Kampala

After your hefty breakfast, drive to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for briefing on chimpanzee
tracking guidelines and also to be allocated to a park guide. Kibale Forest National Park
shelters a huge profusion of primates, about 13 species of primates making it the primate
capital of world.


The actual chimp trek here begins at 8:00am and lasts for 2-4 hours inclusive of 1 hour of
magical encounter and photography. Your chimpanzee tracking experience will entirely

involve an in-depth learning about how chimpanzees behave, feed, copulate, groom each
other and others.


Not only will you have a striking encounter with chimpanzees, but also opportunity to
capture views of other primates including L’Hoests, red tailed monkeys, red colobus
monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys to mention but a few.
Return to the lodge to have lunch then check out ready to return to Kampala via Fort Portal
city about 4-5 hours’ drive.
